Post-Concussion Headache

Acupuncture is Helpful for Post-Concussion Symptoms

Concussion is another name for mild traumatic brain injury, sometimes abbreviated in medical literature as mTBI.  Concussions should be taken seriously in children and adults.

Even a mild concussion has the potential for serious consequences.  Many patients that experience concussions will have symptoms that appear days or weeks after the injury called post-concussive symptoms.  These symptoms can range from trouble concentrating, visual or hearing changes, speech changes, movement or balance disorders.  One of the most frequent complaints is headache.

Acupuncture can be helpful in resolving these post concussive symptoms.  Research has been directed to determining the effectiveness of acupuncture in helping patients return to normal after concussion and the results are promising.
